The installation was created within the OfficeNext project framework, where the participants shared their vision of the interior design of the nearest future. The main purpose of the event was to defy the self-sufficient dictate of design and to expose the value of void spaces and emptiness. The designers view the installation as a three-step purification of mind. First of all, walking through a concrete portal symbolizing the materiality of the world, the visitors enter a white space, where they feel free and find themselves in a boundless emptiness. In it the physical presence is indicated only by pulsating spotlights. Multiple layers and blurred boundaries make the installation visually appealing. A combination of glossy and matte surfaces in the black zone creates a dissolution effect. The white zone is the main part of the installation from the designers’ viewpoint, it is visually nuanced and solves specific practical problems. The double chain of parallelepipeds shaped as the infinity sign may be interpreted both as a coded message sent to the emptiness, and as inviting places for a comfortable pastime.
